The Wright houses, which are a trap

La Grange has Frank Lloyd Wright houses, and a masonry page is exactly where they get misused.

These are the bootleg houses — designed in secret while Wright was barred from taking outside commissions at Adler and Sullivan. Good story, entirely true, and irrelevant to your mortar.

The Robert G. Emmond House (1892) is the one with documented material, and it is wood-frame. A restoration stripped away later brickwork to reveal the original narrow clapboard siding — meaning brick was added at some point and then deliberately removed. The W. Irving Clark House (1892) has no documented exterior material we could find. The Hunt House (1907) is described as stucco.

So a contractor citing Wright as evidence they understand La Grange brickwork is citing a clapboard house that had its brick taken off. Ask about Stone Avenue Station instead.
